I am very lucky where I live as I have some great photography locations within walking distance. One such location is the Ifield Mill pond. It is considered to be the most important wetland site in Crawley and has been designated a Site of Nature Conservation Importance (SNCI). The walkway (pictured above) allows you to get closer to the birds allowing for some great photography. If you bring some bird seed (healthier then bread!) the birds wont leave you alone! Here I have been able to see so many birds up close, here are just a few I have seen:
1) Great Crested Grebe

2) Cormorant

And many other birds such as: Coots, Moorhen, European Herring Gull, Black Headed Gull, Heron, Mallards, Canadian Geese. There also appears to be a lot of domestic breeds at the Mill Pond. Here are some I have spotted. Two Swedish Blue Ducks:

This is a pair commonly seen together at the Mill Pond.
Miniature Silver Appleyard Duck

After further research I have discovered this is not a hybrid and is in fact a domestic breed of duck known as a Miniature Silver Appleyard. How cool is that!
I will be posting more pictures from my trip to Ifield Mill Pond on my instagram account so keep an eye on it!
