As the name might suggest this is a nature centre filled with native British wildlife. With over forty different native species ranging from Scottish wildcats to tiny little field mouse its a great day out. I often visit the BWC with my family, especially now both me and my dad are interested in photography. Although annoyingly he is still better then me. I love that the focus of the centre is on native wildlife.
A lot of the animals tend to be quite elusive so make the most of the various talks going on throughout the day. This visit was the first time I have ever seen badgers up close as I went to listen to the badger talk. There was also another reason why I wanted to go listen to the talks but all will be revealed at a later date.
One of my absolute favourite animals here is the weasel. The enclosure design has been set up so well that you get to see this little animal hide and stick its head out from under logs. Getting a picture of it can be very challenging as it moves so fast! I could easily stand and watch it for hours as it runs around its enclosure.
I'm so lucky to have so many wonderful nature reserves so close to me. Get to East Grinstead and check it out! Its only open on weekends as during the week they do a lot of educational visits to schools. I'm also excited to reveal that in August I will be doing a weeks placement here. Visiting it recently has made it so much more real and I cant wait to start there!
